The presentation of Scientific and Technical Papers or Posters for the 13th Latin American Congress on Fats and Oils will take place November 4 through 6, 2009, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Three conference rooms will be used, integrated to the industry exhibition area (exhibition hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) at the Complejo Metropolitano de la Ciudad de Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina.
Room equipment includes data projection, a computer, public address system and simultaneous English-Spanish translation.
Each accepted paper will be assigned 30 minutes for oral presentation including the Q&A session. The Scientific Committee may extend this presentation time.
Tentative List of subjects to be included in the program:

· Non-edible Applications for Fats and Oils.
· Co-products in the Oil Industry.
· Nutrition and Health.
· Animal Nutrition.
· Biotechnology.

· New technologies.
· Food safety.
· Efficiency through Process Automation
· Biofuels.
The deadline for the presentation of abstracts is August 31, 2009, but we recommend authors should send their abstracts as soon as possible, for the sake of early promotion of a detailed congress program. Papers accepted before May 15, 2009 shall be included in the Congress General Brochure, which will be published as from June 2009.
Instructions to prepare abstracts:
- The abstract - written in Spanish or in English - must include paper title, complete name/s of the author/s, institution/s to which the author/s belong, e-mail address, and the paper contents or abstract text. The number of pages must range between a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5. Page size will be A4 (297 mm high and 210 mm wide). Font: Times New Roman 12. Single line spacing. Upper, lower, right and left margins will all be 3 cm.
- Paper title must be capitalized and in bold type.
- The text must be concise and essential information must be structured into the following sections: summary of no more than 150 words, and a list of 3 to 6 key words; introduction (indicating specific background information on the subject discussed), goal/s of the paper, materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusions, bibliography references (alphabetically listing each first author). The text will carry bibliographic references stating (between brackets) the last name of the first author and the year it was published. Summaries must not include drawings, pictures or graphs, and bibliography must not include more than 5 entries.
-There is no limit to the submittal of co-authored works. In all cases, at least one of the authors must be registered for participation in the Congress (a maximum of three works may be submitted) and the author must be present on the day and time of the presentation. The list of authors on each paper must identify the speaker’s name with a (*) beside his/her name. For oral presentations, the language in which the presentation will be done must be stated.
- No abstracts will be accepted if not compliant with the above requirements.
- For each presentation, authors must state preferred format (oral or poster), the final decision being made by the Scientific Committee.
- The deadline for submitting the full papers, copies of which will be handed to the attendants, is September 30, 2009
